CMKO Radio Angulo from Holguín celebrates its 85th anniversary
The 85th anniversary of CMKO Radio Angulo, Holguín provincial station, was commemorated with an act of patriotic reaffirmation at its headquarters, complying with health measures and physical distancing to avoid COVID-19.
Thus, with the unmistakable theme of “La bella cubana” by José White, which identifies the station, the tribute began and brought together prominent workers, artists and the highest authorities of the province, led by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in Holguín.
In this space, the imprint of great radio operators who have passed through its booths was recalled, from the beginning with the founder Manuel Angulo Farrán, and through unmistakable voices that marked a milestone in the history of this station, such as Vilma Pérez de Aguiar and Sergio Antonio González Valero, recently deceased and both recognized with the 2006 and 2015 National Radio Award.
Likewise, to highlight the work of the CMKO and its incessant work as a "tribune of the people", several organizations and institutions recognized its imprint, headed by the Provincial Committee of the Party, as well as the Telecristal channel, the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, the Faculty of Medical Sciences Mariana Grajales, from Holguín, the Union of Cultural Workers and the Union of Journalists of Cuba.
Natalia Díaz Reverón, acting director of the Provincial Radio System in Holguín, highlighted the imperishable mark of the CMKO in the daily life of Holguín residents for 85 years, making it an exciting challenge to inform and entertain radio listeners, always carrying as a shield the patriotic and revolutionary values that served as the base for its foundation in 1936.
Founded on August 1st, 1936, by the young revolutionary Manuel Angulo Farrán, whose name it would bear after the revolutionary triumph of 1959, the CMKO is one of the longest-running radio stations in the country, dedicated to the dissemination of events in this eastern territory.
Located at the central Máximo Gómez street, between Frexes and Martí, Radio Angulo is the headquarters of the provincial radio station in Holguín, made up of eight municipal radio stations and seven studios.
