Cuban President pays tribute to Fidel

Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, paid tribute to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, at Santa Ifigenia cemetery, in this city.

The ceremony was also attended by Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, among other high leaders of the Cuban Revolution.

After placing white roses before Fidel´s tomb, they paid a similar tribute to Jose Marti, Cuba´s National Hero; Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, Father of the Homeland; and Mariana Grajales, Mother of all Cubans.... Go on reading

Havana International Film Festival to start Next Friday
Outstanding filmmakers will meet in this city to attend the Havana International Film  Festival, which will take place from next December 8 to 17, confirmed the Organizing Committee of the event, which this year marks its thirty-ninth edition.
On this occasion, there will be in contention 138 feature and short films, debut films, documentaries, animations, original screenplays and posters.

Over 4.2 million foreigners visited Cuba in first 11 months
José Manuel Bisbé president of the Travel Cuba agency announced  in Havana that Cuba recorded the arrival of over 4.2 million visitors until November 26.
Of the aforementioned figure, some 573 thousand visitors come from the United States, in a context marked by the measures of US President Donald Trump, which hinders the normal development of relations between the two countries, he said.

Cuban leader Armando Hart passes away in Havana
 The outstanding revolutionary combatant Armando Hart Dávalos died on Sunday afternoon, due to respiratory failure.
Hart was born on June 13, 1930 in Havana. Being a student of the University, in which he enrolled in 1947, he held various responsibilities in the University Student Federation and Orthodox Youth. He graduated as Doctor in Law in 1952. He had a vertical attitude of rejection of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. He joined the National Revolutionary Movement led by Rafael García Bárcena, and when he was accused of conspiracy in April 1953, he defended him as a lawyer, holding before the court the right of the people to rebellion. He suffered imprisonment on several occasions.

Debates in Holguin on the Links between Archeology and Museums
The importance in the relationship between archeology and museums were the center of debates on Wednesday in Holguin during a scientific event on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Center of Research and Environmental and Technological Services founded on October 21st, 1999.
Juan Jardines, specialist of the Central Eastern Department of Archeology told ACN that these relations contribute in saving Cuban cultural heritage and preserve the objects found in excavations, sites like the Chorro de Maita Indigenous Cemetery, a reference for the study of the field in the Caribbean.

The Art Museum in Gibara Reopens its Doors
The Art Museum in Gibara in the province of  Holguin, only of its type in the eastern region reopened its doors on Friday after a refurbishing process as part of the activities for National Culture Day.
The installation treasures collections from the 19th and 20 th centuries, imported from Germany, France and England, which includes furniture, decorate vases, lamps, cups, glasses and other objects.

Cuba urges UN to eradicate poverty at global level
C uba called on the United Nations on Thursday to make a real commitment to the goal of eradicating poverty on the planet, a phenomenon that plagues hundreds of millions of human beings, Prensa Latina reported.
During the Second Committee of the General Assembly, Cuban diplomat Juan Miguel González warned that this objective will remain a chimera under the current international economic order, which he described as deeply unjust and unsustainable.
