Cuba proclaimed its new Constitution

Cuba proclaimed its new Constitution in an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Popular Power marked by a great symbolism for the remembrance of the first Magna Carta of the Republic in Arms, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this Apriltenth.

The proclamation speech was delivered by the Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, who described the new text as the son of its own time, which guarantees the continuity of the Revolution and synthesizes the aspirations of all who have fought for a Cuba of social justice.

The session, in which Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, was also present, began with the greeting to the nation and the firing of 21 salvoes from the Fortress San Carlos de la Cabaña, in Havana, and the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, in Santiago de Cuba.

In the room, the ceremony of proclamation was accompanied by the original constitutional text of Guáimaro, while in that town at Camagüey, several commemorative activities coincided with the ceremony of the Parliament.

Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of Popular Power, said that the new Magna Carta is inspired by the heroism and patriotism of those who fought for a free, democratic and social justice homeland.

The president of the National Electoral Commission, Alina Balseiro, reported that more than six million Cubans -78.3% of eligible voters, voted yes to the text submitted to a referendum, a process that was carried out as legislated, so that the people of Cuba, in sovereign exercise, ratified the new Constitution of the Republic on February 24th.

On this day, the Magna Carta was also published in the Official Gazette, which denotes its validity and the start of theimplementation processfor its transitional dispositions, which, as explained by the Army General, is due for 2020.

The Cuban Parliament will continue its work on April 11th and 12th in Permanent Work Commissions, and on Saturday 13th, an extraordinary session will be held to analyze economic and social issues.

Holguín Electric Company, for the Safety and Health of its workers

In order to celebrate the "Month of Safety" in April, Holguín Electric Company develops a wide program of activities that began with an act in the Business Unit of the Base Operations Center, for its results.

Among the most important undertakingsare increasing -by managers and specialists in Occupational Safety and Health (SST) - control actions on high-risk work, evaluating compliance with the procedures for safe work.

In Holguín Electric Company, workers and heads of high risk brigadesanalyze the causes and conditions that have caused accidents and incidents, including those that occurred on the road, and agree on actions for dismissal. They also carry out training courses for brigade and process managers.

Engineer Marbelis Labrada Álvarez, main specialist in Occupational Safety and Health, also informed that several special meetings will be held in the "Safety Month" to advertise the main hazards and risks to which electrical workers are exposed, and the measures to avoid accidents for violations.

The agenda includes: identifying and eliminating the vulnerabilities that enable infectious-contagious digestive diseases and vector transmission; and last but not least, carry out the auto-focal inspection, the destruction of the artificial deposits of water, eliminate leaks, treat solid organic waste, clean up green areas and training on prevention measures.

As part of the "Safety Month" in April, this company takes into account the recognition to workers, union leaders and directors of the province who stand outin the fulfillment of protection measures in the positions they hold and manage to serve 25 of their workers in the National Pro-Agency, in Havana.

University of Holguín and Tourism sign work agreement

The Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and the University of Holguin (UHo) signed a work agreement, which includes 12 prioritized lines of the different entities of such important sector for the Cuban economy.

The tourism sector requests to the University of Holguín (UHo) to support more than 20 issues in the scientific and technological area, among which are the cleaning of beach bathing areas, design and implementation of environmental management system, productive linkage plan and import substitution so as software for works programming and logistics management.

Likewise, the internal control consultancy, the cultural tourism project of the city of Holguín and that of the Loma de la Cruz theme park, the study of variants of the Playa Morales hotel, in Banes, and that of the third beach line of the tourist pole, among other objectives.

Eddy Santos González, Minturdelegate in the province, explained that this alliance with the UHo will make possible to find solutions to certain aspects that affect the best development of the sector, without having to make expensive imports for the country.

He recalled that one of the management basic pillars of the Cuban Government is "to integrate the universities in search for solutions to the problems of the country and enhance the interaction between the ministers and the faculties; as well as enhance the chain of tourism with other sectors of the economy.

The Mintur is the second agency in the province to sign this agreement, which includes demands related to scientific and technical services, which was preceded by Local Industries.
