Investments throughout Holguín

Several works of impact on the Cuban economy and society are built in the province of Holguín, where resource constraints generate priorities.

The investment program includes a drying, beneficiation and grain packing plant in Velasco, municipality of Gibara, capable of processing around 60 tons daily, from that territory, so as Rafael Freyre, CalixtoGarcía, Cacocum and the head town.

Other hands also seek to increase revenues to the country, replace imports and raise the life quality of the population. Approximately 20 million pesos of the territorial contribution will favor the advance of some actions.

Investment and maintenance programs modify the facade of hospitals, clinics, schools, cultural institutions, parks and roads. A greater number of families will live in new houses this year, considering the delivery of subsidies and the implementation of plans by companiesbelonging to the Ministry of Construction.

The railway station of the head municipality gains comfort in order to resume travel to the capital in premiere cars.

Meanwhile, an eclectic style building, built in 1913, revives from the Saratoga Hotel with 53 rooms in the Cuban city of the parks. The work improved its pace in the last days when establishing a double work shift.

In the current period, worksare carried out in the accommodation and kitchenareas, so as electrical and sanitary systems are placed. Structures had beenstrengthened before, the roof have been completedso as the façaderestored. Tourism, the nickel industry, and the east-west transfer base have been the greater investors.

Most of the social worksare concentrated in the municipalities of Antilla and Cacocum, along with Holguín, whose inhabitants will celebrate the 300 years of their town at the bottom of a large wooden cross. It is important to take actionsrespecting heritage values and good taste,so as theycan become a long lasting gift.

A large production in Gibara spinning mill

A modern technology facilitated the increaseof production so asthe efficiency and improved working conditions in the Inegiro Asanuma Spinning Mill, in the municipality of Gibara in Holguín.

About 90 percent of its old machines, most with more than 20 years of operation, were supplanted, thanks to an investment that exceeded 14 million pesos.

The Textile-based Business Unit of Holguín province, expanded its production capacity to replace the simple cotton yarn that imports the country. As a result, the saving of more than 13 million dollars is estimated for the national economy during one year.

The Gibara spinning mill delivers the raw material for the manufacture of gauze, bandages, sheets, linen and layettefor Cuban textile companies. It stimulates productive linkages, and diversifies its offers, based on the use of waste materials and savings.

More than 30 assortments are born in its clothing workshop. The food industry and agriculture in Cuba receive plastic items from the Inegiro Asanuma, where mattresses are also manufactured. The year 2019, promises to surpass the million cloths for floor cleaning, deliveries that should grow to more than 7 million units with a possible investment.

Polio vaccination campaign from April 22 to 27

The second stage of the 58th National Campaign for Oral Polio Vaccination in Holguín will be held on Monday, April 22ndand Saturday, April 27th, in the province, where conditions are created to achieve effectiveness in such important health activity.

In Holguín territory it is planned to provide the second dose to more than 32 thousand 740 children under three years and reactivate the vaccine to 12 thousand 492 nine years 11 months and 29 days, in each clinic, polyclinic and enabled area, to achieve there is not a single infant left unprotected against a disabling disease, whatwas, before the triumph of the Revolution, a health problem throughout the country.

So as other occasions, it is recommended that infants do not drink water or food 30 minutes before or after applying the vaccine, as well as not pouring drops into the mouth of a sick child (diarrhea, vomiting, fever), since after the campaign there willbe a week for those that remain pending.

Dr. Clara Fernandez, head of the Immunization Program in the province, said that at the health area level, training and updating activities will be carried out concerning the Immunization Program in the country, through which it has been possible to protect the population against a group of preventable diseases.

Cuba has a National Immunization Program since the early 1960s, which has allowed to eradicate sixdiseases: poliomyelitis in 1962; diphtheria in 1979; measles in 1993; whooping cough in 1994; rubella in 1995 and parotiditis in 2010.
