The reactions of the users were diverse. Some did not know what to do after waiting so long, others became nervous and instead of connecting to the data turned on the wifi as part of the habit.

The expected news of the Internet connection came as part of a test carried out by the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (Etecsa) for all customers of prepaid mobile telephony.

This and other tests allow to evaluate the available capacities and the different experiences of use, achieved in correspondence with the characteristics of the access network present at the time and place of the connection, in order to make some adjustments. If

necessary, other tests will be carried out in the following days, the entity said in a statement.

In the case of this Tuesday, the test had a national scope and according to user reports, the navigation speed oscillated at different times of the day but remained at an average of 500 kb / s.

The start date of the service, as well as its rates and other details of interest, will be informed through the media and official channels of the company, explains the note.

However, the implementation of this type of test points to the probable proximity of the beginning of the mobile Internet in Cuba.
