92nd Birthday of Fidel
That birth in Birán, a geographical point in the province of Holguín, in eastern Cuba, on August 13, 1926, brought Fidel Castro Ruz to the world, to the joy of the marriage formed by Ángel and Lina.
No one could imagine then that this child, with the passage of time, would become a young lawyer who would fight to change the destiny of his beloved Cuba, and lead for that purpose the assault on the Moncada barracks, the expedition of Granma, and the war of guerrillas that would triumph on January 1, 1959, bringing freedom to the Homeland.
The historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, made modesty an
essential feature of his life, and his personality is inserted, in his own right, among the relevant men on a universal scale.
This August 13 marks the 92nd anniversary of his birth, and despite his physical departure, by inexorable law
of life, he remains in force his unparalleled example of anti-imperialist fighter, defender of peace, friendship and solidarity among peoples.
From the monolith that keeps his immortal ashes in the patrimonial cemetery of Santa Ifigenia, in the untamed Santiago de Cuba, Fidel continues among us, and his legacy inspires us to fight unceasingly for a free, sovereign and sustainable Cuba, which means his dreams come true.
