Alvaro Torres Tour through Eastern Cuba Suspended

The Salvadoran singer-songwriter Álvaro Torres, the only international artist represented by a Cuban label, the Recording and Musical Editions Company (EGREM), interrupted the tour that he was carrying out in several eastern provinces, due to family problems.

After his successful presentation this July 15 in the stadium of the city of Camagüey, which was attended by 200 thousand people, the artist announced the urgency of having to move to his native country and cancel the planned concerts in Santiago de Cuba (17 July), Bayamo (July 19) and Holguín (July 21).

According to the EGREM press release, the young Cuban musician Juan Guillermo Almeida, known artistically as JG and who managed the production of the presentations with the record company of Torres in Cuba, and institutions of each territory, said that for the moment it will not be possible to reschedule the tour.

Also, Marleidy Muñoz, Director of Communication of the EGREM, said that the recitals were suspended with much regret, because it is known the admiration of the Salvadoran singer in our country, but it was necessary that he was close to his family at this time.

In the statement Muñoz also expresses the profound respect and consideration that Álvaro Torres feels for the Cuban people and explains that as soon as possible he will return to the island, in which he has been immersed during this 2018 new record production.

The album, whose release is planned for this year, includes so far more than a dozen titles recorded in duo with renowned Cuban artists, such as Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Frank Fernandez, Buena Fe, Leoni Torres and Laritza Bacallao.

The tour, which took place these days in several cities of eastern Cuba, was part of the program of activities organized by EGREM for the current summer season.
