Gibara Film Festival Paid Homage to Eliseo Subiela

The Argentine composer Osvaldo Montes paid homage to the late filmmaker Eliseo Subiela (1944-2016), in a concert that toured the soundtrack of the film The dark side of the heart, included among the spaces of the International Film Festival of Gibara.

In the Calixto García Park of that coastal city, the Festival's permanent venue, the performer played for almost an hour pieces contained in the film El azul, Soledad, Las dos orillas and the well-known love theme of the film.



Osvaldo Montes, said that it was a joy for him to make this show in homage to that great friend who was Eliseo Subiela, who forged a special concept of friendship and bequeathed the great teaching of how to make movies from music.

The presentation featured the performance of the company Codanza de Holguín, which through the skill of its dancers and under the direction of Maricel Godoy, allowed to assemble in record time the choreography that accompanied the recital, according to Osvaldo himself.

His extensive musical career includes the soundtracks of iconographic films such as Plata Quemada, Bolívar Soy Yo, Cenizas del Paraiso and El caso María Soledad, as well as the popular television series in Cuba such as Nueve Lunas and De poeta y de Loco.

Montes, who participates for the second time in the Gibara Film Festival gave a concert in the city of Holguin in October 2010 and this time serves as a member of the Jury of fiction.

Dedicated to children and adolescents, the 14th edition of the Gibara International Film Festival brings together inter national luxury guests such as the actor and producer Benicio del Toro, the Spanish director Félix Viscarret and the popular Argentinean musician Fito Páez, who will perform the concert of closing of the event, started on the first day of the current month until next Saturday.
