Starts a Seminar on Journalism and Tourism in Cuba
An international seminar on journalism and tourism starts today and will last five days of sessions in Havana with the presence of 65 informants from 12 countries and a wide update folder of this sector.
The organizing committee announced Monday that this XIII International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism is expected to involve 40 communicators from Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Argentina, Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico and the United States.
In this meeting, which will be held at the José Martí International Institute of Journalism, the Spanish hotel chains Iberostar and Meliá will have an important participation with their presentations and updates of their business on the island, an announcement that has attracted the attention of many.
Representatives of the Blue Diamond Hotel Group of Canada will also talk with the communicators in this capital.
The main organizer of this seminar, the journalist Hilda Prieto, told Prensa Latina that the XIII Seminar will address heritage, culture and tourism development among its main themes.
This meeting has a strong interest of many Latin American communicators, when one of the main topics will be the relations of the United States and Cuba in tourism.
Prieto, Cuban television journalist and head of the tourist press section of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), confirmed that another of the topics that will be on the table is the 500th birthday of Havana (November 16, 2019).
Among the topics of the talks are the Impact on tourism of the measures of the current government of the United States, intelligent tourist destinations: myth or reality, and Meliá-Cuba Group: a story, a destination.
The participants will also discuss Tourism in the Caribbean, current trends, Investment and tourism development strategies in Cuba, among other issues.
The collateral program of the Seminar includes a tour of the historic center of Old Havana, meetings at hotels in this capital and a visit to the Marina Hemingway, in the western zone of Havana.
