Cuba develops second generation vaccines to treat asthma

Specialists from the national center for Biopreparations, located in Bejucal, municipality of  Mayabeque, work on second-generation vaccines for asthma in order to reduce the number of injections,  as reported by Clock Radio.

Currently, a phase two clinical trial is being carried out as promoted by that scientific center in allergy services of the Calixto García and Ameijeiras hospitals, led by doctors Mirta Álvarez and Iglemis Figueroa.

Through the years, BIOCÉN has developed therapeutic vaccines of three species of acarus, for the treatment of intermittent and persistent asthma, from mild to moderate, by injectable subcutaneous and sublingual drops.

Allergen vaccines have been used in allergic diseases for more than 100 years, they are recognized internationally as an effective and safe treatment, also they are recommended by the World Health Organization.
