The Cuban Ministry of Domestic Trade created specialized crews that will go to homes to repair and maintain electrical appliances in order to provide better and faster services to the people.
This new service will improve the useful life of equipment included in the Energy Revolution program in Cuba created over a decade and a half ago by then-president Fidel Castro.
The services are carried out by crews specialized in repairs and maintenance of electrical units, such as cookers, refrigerators, fans, air conditioners and televisions, whose owners make their reports in the offices of this sector in the municipalities and Popular Councils.
The first provinces to receive these services were Matanzas, Pinar del Rio and Havana, and from this Tuesday they will also begin in Holguin, after the flag-handing ceremony of the first two brigades who will carry out these tasks in the province.
Yosvany Pupo Otero, Director General of Services of this Ministry, told the press in Holguin today that this is a way of rescuing the past experience of providing this type of service to the population for them to avoid going to specialized.
The measure will be at the same time, he stressed, one of the ways to contribute to increase electricity savings and extend the equipment's useful life in accordance with the guidelines transmitted to the trade sector in the country by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, to seek solutions to community problems based on local initiatives and optimal use of existing resources and means.
