Debate in Holguín about the social use of the Internet
The impact of the use of the Internet and communication technologies on citizens was discussed during the opening of the event Bloguerías de Mayo, which takes place during the International Festival of Artistic Youth in Holguín until May 8th.
Carlos Parra, president of the Information Technology Union of Cuba in the eastern territory, highlighted that civil society is represented in this workshop and played by key actors in the use of current information platforms.
The positioning of Cuban content on national websites, digital development, as well as the ethical, cultural and legal challenges involved in the publication of personal information on social networks, were among the themes presented in the event.
During the session it was also discussed the need to promote the efficient use of these technological tools from basic knowledge to protect the privacy of each Internet user, Parra said.
In the next days of the sixth edition of Bloguerías de Mayo they will make a panel related to the role of the community manager as responsible for the work of the different institutions in the social networks, for which they summoned members of the media of the territory, besides journalists from Cubadebate and the Cuban News Agency, explained Luis Ernesto Ruiz Martínez, coordinator of the meeting.
Accordingly, they will present the experiences of the weekly ¡ahora! and the University of Holguín, which shows important progress with the work of its managers in the digital universe; said the also member of the Organizing Committee. The Bloguerías de Mayo constitute a meeting point for journalists, bloggers and hypermedia content specialists today.
