The construction work was resumed in the Saratoga hotel building, in the central intersection of Maceo and Martí streets, in the city of Holguín, after concluding the rescue actions of the heritage building from the beginning of the last century.

By the end of October of this year, the completion of this facility of high comfort for city tourism is scheduled, which will be operated by the Hotel Chain E, of the tourist group Cubanacán.

During the almost 24 months of the building recovery, one of eclectic style, work was undertaken on structural reinforcement, restoration of the facade, interior courtyard, arches and columns on the second floor, the roof and the waterproofing of this, all works of great rigor and details assumed by workers of the Ecoa-19.

These conservation actions allowed to begin in February with the execution of this hotel plant with 12 rooms in the patrimonial part, but that in a second stage will increase to 53 with the construction of other nearby premises along the Maceo street.

José Walker Olaguibel, investment and development specialist in the delegation of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), in the province of Holguín, explained that at the moment, besides Ecoa-19, there are also specialists from the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets (FCBC) who work in the restoration of ladder landings and repair-consolidation of collapsed wooden beams and in the conformation of spans, reconstruction of arches and metal beams.

Moreover, that organization is dedicated to the placement of frames in their respective openings and the manufacture of mosaics for the second level and galleries of the patio.

This work has a budget for this year of more than 3 million pesos, which supports its execution, according to the specialist. Once finished the hotel Saratoga, four stars category, it will have the entrance by Maceo Street. On the first floor there will be a lobby with a straight park view, a snack bar- breakfast room, other service areas and an interior patio with its own last century atmosphere.

On the second floor there will be 12 rooms planned for this main building; in addition to premises for maids so as living and relaxation areas, according to the design of the Vértice company.

Moreover, there is the intention to expand the hotel to increase accommodation capacity to 53 rooms, as well as pool and garden on the roof of the new construction, which will reach the current flower shop located in the central street Maceo. This way, by the end of 2019, the city of Holguín will have its third Hotel E, of the Cubanacán group.
