Remarkable progress in the economic and social policies of Plan Turquino
The integral work developed in Plan Turquino of Holguín province showed satisfactory results in the realization of economic and social policies during 2018.
This was confirmed during the annual balance of Plan Turquino in Holguín, whose analysis was focused on the fulfillment of the objectives and tasks concerning the strategic work of this Revolution program, which promotes and enhances the integral development of mountainous areas.
During the last year progress was achieved in the main indicators that measure the results of health, education, agriculture, communal services, transportation, housing, and commerce. Moreover, the confrontation against social indiscipline, illegalities and crime in the five municipalities that compose the Plan Turquino in Holguín, which are Cueto, Mayarí, Sagua de Tánamo, "Frank País" and Moa.
The report presented by the Provincial Commission of Plan Turquino, was enriched and approved by those attending the event, who carried out evaluative approaches to the advances and deficiencies in the scheduled tasks for the improvement of the life quality of the inhabitants of those rural areas.
The integral work carried out in the 105 settlements and the 92 electoral constituencies belonging to Plan Turquino, had as a special motivation the Constitutional Reform, which was subject to popular referendum in our country; stressed the balance report.
Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province of Holguín, highlighted the importance of Plan Turquino, its strategic nature in the economic and social field, as well as its links to territorial defense, at the same time he exhorted to work during the current year for new accomplishments in the scheduled objectives and tasks.
Julio César Estupiñan Rodríguez also presided the event, President of the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power; Lazarus Vázquez, executive secretary of the National Commission for Plan Turquino; Lázaro Chávez, as part of the Council of Ministers, among other political and administrative leaders.
