The team of experts of the National Accreditation Board (JAN) concluded the evaluation of the medical specialties of Dermatology,General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Cautery after several days ofwork at the University of Medical Sciences, medical institutions and other teaching scenarios of the health system of theprovince.

Those three specialties were subjected to analysis by JAN after a meticulous preparation, in order to achieve their accreditation; a category that validates the educational work of the professionals in chargeof the training of human resources in the different scenarios of themedical education and the quality of the services provided to thepopulation.

The JAN team during their stay in Holguin fulfilledmeetings with teachers and residents of Dermatology, SurgeryGeneral, Plastic and Cautery, in which they demonstrated how the processes of preparation of the specialties work, the teaching of theprofile of the graduate and the teaching programs.

In addition, they evaluated the medical and nursing care of patients inthe Vladimir Ilich Lenin university hospital, the Lucía Iñiguez and the PediatricOctavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja, the main scenarios where the new professionals of the health in the province are formed.

With these three specialties, the process ofexternal evaluation started in 2019, and it is expected that other 17 go through this assessment, such as Oncology, Ophthalmology,Child Psychiatry and Histology, which will be evaluated between thefirst and the sixth of April.

After these days of evaluation, if the certification of accreditationproceeds, those three medical specialties are according to the established quality standards at a national and international level.
