More than 53 thousand hectares are dedicated to various crops in the province of Holguín, of which more than 38 thousand correspond to temporary crops and just over 14 thousand to permanent crops.

The total irrigated area with use value amounts to more than five thousand hectares, of which an amount over four thousand correspond to temporary crops and almost a thousand hectares to permanent ones, according to

statistics revealed by the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG).

Of the mentioned total of the balance of area, there are more than 29 thousand 300 hectares covered until the end of August, and just over five thousand will be released from September to December, which represents that there will be an amount greater than 29 thousand 400 hectares for the winter campaign

Specialists of various crops of the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture informed that it is planned to sow above 32 thousand hectares, for which it is necessary to have 150 hectares of seedlings.

Regarding insurance, it was learned that in terms of machinery, irrigation systems and equipment, there are 85 machines with use value; the water balance satisfies the water needs of the crops that will intervene in the winter season, and the needs of parts and irrigation accessories pending to enter the province was dispatched with MINAG.
