Electricity service in the province of Holguín is restored to 95 percent, after compensating the damages caused by Hurricane Irma, as it passed through the eastern Cuban coasts last Friday.
María Hidalgo, director of the Economic Unit for Customer Service in the Electricity Company in this eastern territory, confirmed that they are working intensively for the complete rehabilitation of this important service and thus contribute to the achievement of all the other objectives foreseen in the Recovery Phase in progress to repair the damage left by the meteor.
She explained that until now most of the areas that do not yet have electricity are isolated and difficult to reach communities, mainly in the coastal municipalities of Gibara, Rafael Freire, Mayarí and Banes, heavily hit by the meteorological phenomenon.
In the specific case of Banes, she pointed out; it still has 44 percent without electricity, being the territory with the greatest damages in this service, which is why in the next hours it is expected the support of brigades from nearby municipalities.
The specialist, however, ratified the commitment of the entity to restore electricity to 100 percent of the customers in the province of Holguin before the end of this week, as they must increase the solutions by having the thermoelectric plant of Felton, the main generator of the territory and among those of greater capacity of Cuba.
