Holguineros Put into Practice Recovery Efforts

 The Council of  Provincial Defense of  Holguín said today that the main actions to be taken during the recovery of damages left by Hurricane Irma are the food distribution, the water supply and the vitality of the electroenergetic system.

In this last objective, Héctor Lugo, director of the Electricity Company, pointed out that 71% of customers have this service restored and they have plans to increase solutions by having the Felton thermoelectric, the main generator of the territory and among those with the highest capacity of Cuba.

Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, president of this body of defense, insisted on facing the problems with dynamism and not to leave for later that which can be solved at the moment, being attentive to the situations that can affect the daily life of the town.

He emphasized that the collection of agricultural products and their distribution to markets should be prioritized and act more vigorously in sanitation work through the collection of waste, removal of fallen trees on roads, especially in the capital city and other urban areas .

The construction subgroup reported that according to the survey carried out, there are currently around 4,000 partially affected houses and 174 total landslides, while Hydraulic Resources said that progress is being made in giving vitality to the supply systems of water of the population and entities state organs.

In that sense, Eudelio Ricardo, director of the entity, indicated that in the case of the Holguin tourist center already has the water service in all its hotel facilities, based on the Colorado dam, intended for this segment and one that covered its total reservoir capacity during Irma's transit.
