Holguín advances in the recovery of the damages caused by the Irma hurricane while it provides aid in other provinces more affected, like Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara.

This was stated by Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, President of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), speaking at the 30th ordinary session of the 11th Provincial Assembly of People's Power (APPP) held Saturday at the Celia Sánchez Manduley Theater, of the
Party headquarters in the City of the Parks.

The also First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCP) in this eastern territory, explained that in circumstances like these, we stop being Holguín to become Cuba, and to extend the hand of solidarity to those most in need, is to fulfill what the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz taught us.

Torres Iríbar explained that in the territory of Holguin the recovery has gone apace, although there will be damages, as in the case of the housing fund that will require more time and resources, as more than 11 thousand homes suffered damage caused by the weather event,  of them more than 500 total collapse.

He enumerated among the main damages caused by Irma in this part of the country, the ones corresponding to agriculture, in particular in crops like cassava, banana and sugar cane, at the same time that he qualified as positive the volumes of water accumulated in dams.

This regular session of the APPP in Holguín was attended by Jorge Cuevas Ramos, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and Rafael Santiesteban Pozo, member of the Council of State and President of the National Association of Small Farmers.
