Holguin Agriculture has proposed to grow in coconut and cocoa production, and to this end directs its steps the provincial delegation of this Ministry in the eastern province of Holguin.
It currently has 10 nurseries for seedling production of coconut, located in the municipalities of Moa and Sagua de Tánamo, with three each; two in "Frank País" and the same number in Mayarí.
Agricultural specialists in the territory confirmed that they are working on the seed collection to guarantee seedlings for 441 hectares destined to the promotion of this crop, which will be destined to the Agroforestry Companies of Holguín, Mayarí, Sagua de Tánamo and Moa, as well as to the Integral of Holguín and Agroindustrial of Grains of Gibara.
Regarding cocoa, there is a total area of 423.5 hectares, broken down into 366 in production and 57 under development, in addition to eight micro nurseries, where seedlings receive the benefit of irrigation.
Developing the cultivation of coconut and cocoa is a goal that was drawn by the farmers who are engaged in both crops, who assure that they will not fail to meet the challenge.
