Today will be a crucial day in the eighth round of the Cuban National Women´s Chess Tournament as Lisandra Llaudy, current leader, will face her closest pursuer, Yaniet Marrero.
Llaudy, who already won the event in 2012, heads the contest with six points from possible seven, while Marrero totals five units.
Another important match will be the one involving Maritza Arribas, 11-time domestic monarch who now ranks third with 4.5 points, and Oleiny Linares, 3rd seed of the competition who, however, has not had a good performance.
Meanwhile, Yaniela Forgas and Roxangel Obregon, who appear 4th and 5th with four units each will rival Vivian Ramon (2 points) and Yerisbel Miranda (3.5), in that order.
Miranda, defending champion, remains undefeated but she has drawn her seven games and no longer has options of winning crown again.
